Leveraging your testing skills and QA experience, being a part of the team that builds things that help local businesses around the world thrive
Groupon’s mission is to become the daily habit in local commerce and fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses by connecting people to a vibrant, global marketplace for local services, experiences and goods. In the process, we’re positively impacting the lives of millions of customers and merchants globally. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. If you want to take more ownership of your career, then you’re ready to be part of Groupon.
Are you a passionate, energetic tester who champions the customer’s experience? Do you get excited about new technology and tooling in building better automation? Do you like to solve problems creatively? Do you constantly like to challenge and improve what you’ve got?
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer In Test (SDET) to help us realize our vision of a fully Bookable Marketplace. In Groupon’s Bookable Marketplace, we empower merchants with software which gets the right customer in the door, at the right time, at the right price. You’ll be helping to test, launch and support the products and services to build great supply and seamless booking experiences.
We’re a “best of both worlds” kind of company. We’re big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We’re curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?
You’ll spend time on the following:
You’ll help research and establish best practices and processes in the QA team
You’ll strategize, plan, and execute testing for high impact new features
You’ll build automation for new features
You’ll develop test frameworks and expand testing tools for both front-end and back-end testing
You’ll be able to collaborate with teams and engineers around the world, embracing diversity in your working environment.
Taking on tasks and building skills to help you continue growing your career and take on further opportunities at Groupon
We’re excited about you if you have:
BS, MS or PhD in Computer Sciences or related fields with 5+ years of relevant QA experience
Experience working on applications, sites, systems in both UI and API testings.
Experience working in an agile environment
Good communication and collaboration skills
Great problem solving skills and an ability to find alternative ways of doing things
We value test engineers who are:
Customer-focused: We believe that doing what’s right for the customer is ultimately what will drive our business forward.
Obsessed with quality: We want to continue to deliver a 5-star rated experience with our apps
Team players. You believe that more can be achieved together. You listen to feedback and also provide supportive feedback to help others grow/improve.
Fast learners: We are always expanding the scope of our responsibility and stepping up to help address gaps. You’ll love being able to test multiple things and not be restricted to a single area.
Pragmatic: We do things quickly to learn what our customers desire. You know when it’s appropriate to diverge from established processes in order to ‘just get it done’, but without sacrificing the quality bar.
Collaborative: Getting things done at Groupon often involves reaching out across team boundaries to unblock or move things forward. You’re encouraged to do so and should not feel restricted to following the standard communication channels through management.
