As a Data Operations Analyst on Sensor Tower’s Mobile Insights team, you will research and own crucial data quality and validation initiatives which support multiple teams across the organization, including sales, customer success, and market insights. Working with these teams, you will work to maintain and expand Sensor Tower’s best-in-class data taxonomy and metadata, while identifying and developing new opportunities for parties, both internal and external, to derive the greatest value from our expansive collection of data.
This role is ideal for data analysts and enthusiasts who are researchers at heart and seek an opportunity to work with an immense and unique dataset to ensure its quality, versatility, and usefulness for any user who wants to master the mobile app ecosystem.
Note on Location: Sensor Tower is headquartered in San Francisco, but this opportunity is open remotely to anywhere in the state of California.
Proactively identify ways to increase the accuracy and coverage of our key products such as Store Intelligence and Usage Intelligence
Organize the often complex relationships between multiple apps and publishers
Identify, track, and quantify the impact of real-world events on app performance
Become an expert of the different types of data we have (e.g. custom field data, annotations, and unification data)
Provide our research team with insights to support market reports
Research insights related to the mobile app ecosystem that fuel our data-driven content for our blog posts and press inquiries (we’re featured in major outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and BBC News)
Develop proprietary taxonomies, such as our Game Taxonomy, for app identification
Track, quantify, and report on your work/projects and how they feed into the broader goals of Sensor Tower
Bachelor of Science in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or any related field
>1 year of professional work experience (internships count!) working with large datasets (ideally terabytes of data)
Strong knowledge of statistical analysis tool sets (e.g. R, Stata, or MatLab) and techniques (e.g. weighted averages, growth rates, linear regressions)
Practical knowledge and familiarity with querying data from databases (SQL, MongoDB, etc.)
Experience cleaning and working with large datasets to draw insights
Innate interest in and curiosity for understanding the business behind mobile apps and the factors that impact mobile app performance
Strong attention to detail – check work thoroughly and make sure that the data pulled is always accurate
Ability to multitask and re-prioritize projects quickly based on ad hoc requests with varying levels of urgency
Proactive self-starter who is able to identify data issues and find the proper resolution
Nice to have
Experience working in and/or existing knowledge of the mobile app ecosystem (e.g. understanding of the current top apps and mobile industry trends)
Strong proficiency with one or more statistical visualization or graphing toolkits (HighCharts, D3, Tableau, MS Excel, etc.) and creating reports that are presented to clients and stakeholders
